Tasmai Sri Gurave Namaha ||
Meaning: A Guru can save us from the pangs of ignorance (darkness) by applying to us the balm of knowledge or awareness of the Supreme, I salute such a Guru. Guru removes the ignorance and leads us to the path of liberation.
Sri vyasa pooja is celebrated as Guru Poornima,
paying homage to one's Guru, who guides us through this mighty materialistic ocean and helps us to achieve the foremost goal of this human birth.
We celebrate the festival with dedicated efforts to our beloved Guru, Saibaba.
He has wonderfully inculcated the love for all beings,mercy towards the needy, tolerance,humility and much more through parables and His activities during His days in Shirdi.
Blessed are the men who were able to drink the nectar of His profound teachings directly with unperturbed focus.We have to pay our Obeisance to Our Guru, by practicing his words and praying Him for unflinching faith and everlasting devotion towards his lotus feet.
Thaipoosam - 2014
Sairam,
|| Sakthiumaibaalagane saranam ninthaal enru
saranadainthaal kaathiduvaan murugan enrum ||
Lord Murugar is always identified with His own special fight for Maangani(Mango) with His beloved brother Lord Ganesha.
All the incidents are preplanned for people’s welfare in every avatar’s Life.
This incident is not an exception,Lord Murugar got angry and came to Thiruaavinankudi(3rd padai veedu) and stood with a Loin cloth alone (symbolizing every thing is temporary in this Maaya loga (world)).Then the mountain itself convinced Murugar as ‘Pazham nee’ – Your yourself a fruit and added you need not require any.This “Pazham nee” came into existence as palani or pazhani hence thiruvaavinankudi is now pazhani.
Simultaneous Sage Agasthiyar has sent his asura disciple ‘Idumban’ to fetch Sivagiri and Sakthigiri.As an implicit disciple idumban tied both the mountains to a thick stick and was on the way to his master’s place.He rested for some time,but Murugar came and stood in Sivagiri.It was not possible even for Idumban(such an enormous asura)to lift the hills again.He examined the reason and found a small boy as the obstacle.
Then they broke into a fight.
Result : “Vetri veluke anri evaruku”
Murugar had killed idumban and won over him.
But the implicit obedience and respect idumban had for his guru made Murugar to bless him the life back.
Murugar blessed idumban,”Any devotee carrying a kavadi (milk,curd,sandal,flower,grains,fruits,etc) like you and surrendering to Me with Faith will have all his wishes fulfilled”
In addition idumban got a high reward of residing in pazhani malai and devotees should pay their obeisances to idumban and then climb up to complete their prayers to the Lord.
Kaavaadi thandha idumbanuku nanrigal pala.
